Memorial Park History

HISTORY OF MEMORIAL PARK

Sheffield Memorial Park was constructed in 1945 by the hard work of many volunteers at a cost of $50,000 to honor those who served in the armed forces during World War II.

In 1945 the Sheffield Civic Association was organized to administer and be the caretakers of the park. Throughout the years this organization of dedicated volunteers monitored the park facilities.
In 1995 the Sheffield Township Supervisors passed an ordinance to create a Parks & Recreation Committee to administer and develop a park system within the township. At that time the Civic Association decided to turn the property over to the township. Since then many new things have been added to the park.

Since its inception over $300,000 has been invested into the park system for the citizens and youth of Sheffield to enjoy.

Memorial Park is a gem in the middle of our community and we ask our youth to enjoy and take care of the park. Thank you.
